On the other hand, the marriage ceremony and conduct is very sacred in Hinduism (incl Jains, Sikh, SC, ST and other castes). The customs are so intellectual and full of faith in the good nature of the groom and his family. It is supposed to be cosmic Union of bodies and mind. But in practice the system of dowry in bad and horrible. Even after so many years after the independence, we are still governed with greed and cruelty against the girl by the groom’s family. She is married into, that they ignore Dharma, which in a comprehensive ideal after the marriage takes place and the girl in sent to be settled into the family of the groom. So a beautiful ceremony takes place for the marriage, but after words. When the greed takes over the girl gets bad treatment in the grooms household. The practice of dowry must be eliminated. It can be done by not allowing the family’s participation in the process of fixing the marriage and it should be the girl and the boy who should fix their marriage with mutual consent and them involve the families of the groom & the bride.
